Introduction
Aotearoa Fisheries Limited (AFL) has been established to maximise the value of Māori fisheries assets for the benefit of its iwi and Māori shareholders.

The company – which was established under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004- holds around half the total value of the Māori fisheries assets and is estimated to be worth at least $350 million.
The company is a substantial player in the fishing industry and holds a 50 percent shareholding in Sealord & Prepared Foods Limited, and 100 percent ownership of Moana Pacific, Chathams Processing, Pacific Marine Farms and Prepared Foods Processing.
Te Ohu Kaimoana is the sole voting shareholder in AFL and will appoint their board of directors.
All mandated iwi organisations will hold income shares and receive annual dividends from the company.
Both Te Ohu and all iwi recognised under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004 will receive an annual report, along with unaudited half-year accounts and audited yearly financial statements.
