Regional Hui and Discussion Document

We are receiving good feedback from MIOs and AHCs on our discussion document that we distributed via email. The document outlines our proposed work priorities for Te Ohu Kaimoana and has been developed as a result of the resolutions passed by iwi at the Special General Meeting in June. You can download the discussion document here.

New reporting standards for charities

If your MIO or AHC is a charity, there are now new reporting standards for the financial statements within your annual returns to Charities Services. The Department of Internal Affairs has full information available on the Charities website.  All registered charities must file an annual return and attach financial statements. Until now, there have been no minimum standards on the content or the quality of those financial statements. The new standards came into effect at the beginning of the 2015 financial year.

Survey Results Available Online

Some of the thinking in our Discussion Document was guided by the results of a recent survey we conducted with iwi organisations and others in the fishing industry. We received 60 responses from people working in a variety of fisheries roles with iwi, including Asset Holding Companies, Mandated Iwi Organisations and customary fisheries. The responses make for interesting reading and we are sure that iwi will also find them of interest. Download the survey results here. If you have any questions about the review, please email us.
