“Well it's been exciting. It's been an excellent experience. It's been a time in which there was a lot of changes happening in the world of Māori – in terms of the recognition of urban Māori and the bridges that were built between urban and iwi.

“I'm only disappointed that after such a long, hard struggle I won't be there at the end where allocation actually happens to our people. But that will happen anyway so I guess, one door closes and another one opens.”
