Kia Ora Seafoods in Auckland,
a specialist producer of Pacific
oysters, has been added to the
Aotearoa Fisheries Limited's
group of companies.
AFL completed the acquisition of Kia Ora Seafoods in February this year. The deal will increase AFL's sales of Pacific oysters to 1.2 million dozen a year, making AFL the largest producer and marketer of Pacific oysters in New Zealand.
Chief Executive Robin Hapi said the acquisition complements AFL's significant commitment to the oyster industry through ownership of Pacific Marine Farms in the Coromandel. Kia Ora Seafoods was a respected brand in New Zealand and overseas markets. In early April, AFL acquired Whitianga-based OPC Fish and Lobster Limited and its significant quota portfolio further strengthening AFL's position in key North Island inshore fisheries.
