Dr John Glaister, the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Fisheries, has resigned. Dr Glaister has been Chief Executive of the Ministry since December 2004. In announcing the resignation, the State Services Commissioner Mark Prebble said Dr Glaister had found it impossible to manage working in New Zealand since his mother was admitted to protective care in January last year. “This has increased the need for him to return to Australia where he can provide more support for his family. I sympathize with that responsibility,” Mr Prebble said. Dr Glaister will leave the Ministry of Fisheries on 30 June 2007.
