
Maru Samuel (Ngāiterangi, Te Rarawa, Te Aupōuri, Waikato ) and Dianne Collier (Ngāti Porou, Waikato ) have joined forces with Paki Rawiri to make up the Allocation team that will be working closely with iwi.
Maru Samuel grew up on Matakana Island where fish was a regular part of their diet. Maru holds a law degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management which has led to a career in local government. His most recent position was as a planner for the Heritage department of the Auckland Regional Council where he worked with local iwi and Māori.
Dianne Collier grew up in a commercial fishing family-her step-father was one of the fisheries manager's for Talleys Fisheries. Di managed Tama Fishing Company Ltd - a company owned by Ngāti Tama Manawhenua ki Te Tau Ihu Trust, which owns scallop and hake quota as well as a mussel farm in Golden Bay . She has also worked extensively for Ngāti Tama Trust on a range of projects including co-ordinating the Waitangi Tribunal hearing into Ngāti Tama's claim.
Maraea Bellamy (Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Ati Haunui ā Paparangi, Te Atiawa, Ngāti Toa) has been appointed as the Advisor to the Transition Project. Maraea has an extensive background in the public sector primarily in the areas of Māori affairs, policy and health.
Maraea says the goal of the Transition Project is to ensure that Te Ohu Kaimoana has robust systems in place and the resources to match its core function which is to manage the transfer of assets from Te Ohu to iwi.
