Among the items on the agenda are the delivery of the final report of the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission, presentation of the six-year Strategic Plan for Te Ohu Kai Moana Trustee Limited, the presentation of Half-Year Reports for Te Ohu Kaimoana and Aotearoa Fisheries Limited, as well as updates on allocation issues and the impending Aquaculture Trust.
The chairs from the respective boards that work underneath Te Ohu Kaimoana will provide an outline of their work-plans for the next six to 12 months and will introduce their board members.
Te Ohu Kaimoana chief executive Peter Douglas says the Hui a Tau will be an opportunity to inform iwi representatives and interested parties of the progress made since the passing of the Māori Fisheries Act last year. “All iwi are keen to ensure the fisheries assets pass from us to them in the fastest possible time. We hope the meeting will provide some assurance that we are working as quickly as possible to achieve allocation,” he said.
