Nga whakaaro ki a ratou kua wheturangitia, me ou ratou whanau i noho ai i raro i te kapua pouri. Nga manaakitanga o te Atua ki runga i a tatou katoa.
Events over the last few months have been keeping staff at Te Ohu Kaimoana busy. We have had the tabling in Parliament of the final report for the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission, marking the final act for that organisation. We have also sent to iwi copies of our six-year Strategic Plan and the first report on the activities of Te Ohu Kaimoana – our half-year report.
An important event occurring in the near future is the signing of an agreement between the Government and Te Ohu Kaimoana placing us responsible for allocating the 20 percent of water-space for aquaculture that Māori received through recent legislative changes to the way aquaculture is carried out in this country. We look forward to meeting our obligations to iwi in this matter and ensuring that iwi receive their entitlement in a timely manner to make the best of New Zealand's growing aquaculture industry.
