Draft Annual Plans distributed to Iwi

Te Ohu Kaimoana has been receiving responses on the draft annual plans from Iwi organisations.

The draft plans for Te Ohu Kaimoana and its associated trusts were sent out to Iwi in July for comment prior to final publication in October 2005.

Te Ohu Chief Financial Officer Peter Whittington says the annual plan allows Te Ohu to stay on track with its core responsibilities. “It factors in variables such as quota increases and reductions; iwi needs regarding mandating and allocation process; gauges the continued relevance of our more distant goals and provides the resources to implement our set objectives.”

“The staff at Te Ohu have set themselves very stringent performance measures for the coming year, some of which are to have 12 iwi through the approval process, having 25 percent of the assets currently held in trust allocated to iwi and a further 26 iwi become Mandated Iwi Organisations or MIOs. This is additional to the normal work of ACE rounds and legislative compliance that staff undertake on a daily basis, he said.
