Luella Narayan has recently joined the staff at Te Ohu Kaimoana, as an adviser in the Capability Development Team, under the Policy and Operations Division.
Luella is of Indian and Maori descent, from to Ngati Tuwharetoa, Ngati Awa and Ngati Rangitihi. She grew up in South Auckland, is fluent in Maori and Japanese and recently spent three years teaching English in Japan on the Jet programme.
She has also worked in the public sector in a variety of roles from Community Employment to Maori health.
Her advisory role at Te Ohu Kaimoana involves assisting MIOs to develop the skills needed to manage their fisheries assets.
Francene Wineti has also joined the staff at Te Ohu Kaimoana, as a policy analyst in the Policy and Operations Division working on aquaculture and fisheries management issues.
Francene is from Te Atihaunui a Paparangi, Ngati Kahugnunu. She grew up in Tauranga, has a Masters Degree in Aquaculture from Deakin University in Australia and has been a Global Fisheries Scholar.
Francene has spent a year in Japan as a trainee of Nissui and has worked in Australia and New Zealand's aquaculture industry.
