
A long-term project that will decide the future of aquaculture in the Bay of Plenty region has entered its next phase with the release of draft Offshore Use Maps.
Environment Bay of Plenty started the Aquaculture Marine Area (AMA) project in 2002 with the aim of identifying future AMAs for the region. The development of the maps identifies where areas of cultural, ecological, recreational or commercial significance will limit the location of AMAs.
Public consultation of the project will continue until 20 January 2006. For more information, check out the Environment BOP website:
