MŌ Te Ohu - About Te Ohu
Introduction
Welcome to the Te Ohu Kaimoana Archive.
Over 15 years of activity have led us to where we are today and this is where you will find much of the documentation that has resulted from that mahi.
The process of allocating fishing assets to Maori has been an evolving one. We have seen the process become a template for progress and co-operation between iwi and the Crown and we have seen a level of communication and consultation unprecedented in the Treaty of Waitangi Claims Settlement process.
Here we have a living record, a treasure from which we can learn when our future generations ask us how it was that we regained our toanga and once again became a prosperous and forward thinking people.
We have organized this archive into 11 subsections that you will see on the left of your screen. As you enter each section you will find an overview of the information contained there.
Please enjoy this record of your past and know that it is one of the gateways to our future.
