Fred Cookson

Fred is a practising chartered accountant with 18 years’ public practice experience and is a senior partner in the firm Cookson Forbes KCSM LTD based in Opotiki. The firm employs 16 staff, including the principals, with offices in Opotiki and Hamilton. Fred actively works alongside clients and associates, who are mainly in the primary and commercial sectors, and he is an advocate of effective financial management, providing advice on financial and management accounting, business development, taxation and audit.
He has worked throughout the Waiariki and Tairawhiti districts with iwi organisations who are the stewards of several millions of dollars invested in land and marine-based assets in the farming, horticulture, forestry and fishing industries.
Educated at Tipene and Auckland University, Fred has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand. He is married to Alison and has five tamariki.
Fred is passionate about assisting in asset development and wealth creation through strong financial management, utilising specialist skills in a team environment.
