MŌ Te Ohu - About Te Ohu
About the Logo
These are the elements in the Te Ohu Kaimoana logo:
The green colour in the wording TE OHU depicts the most precious and durable material used by our Māori ancestors. Pounamu or greenstone remains a highly-prized treasure and represents the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that the assets of the Māori fisheries settlement are protected for future generations.
The blue colour in the word KAIMOANA relates to the pristine oceans or moana around Aotearoa that hold the resources on which the Māori fisheries settlement is built.
The three waves at the bottom of the wording represent the motion created when the prow of a waka or tauihu cuts through the water on its journey forward. The wave pattern represents leadership and progress.
The watermark image that features on our stationary is a traditional anchor stone or punga. The rope on the anchor stone provides a link between the people living on the land and those that venture out in to the realm of Tangaroa.
