Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga
Kim has 20 years of experience in the Treaty Settlement sector, including management roles at the Waitangi Tribunal and Crown Forestry Rental Trust. She has been a Trustee for Te Atiawa since 2007 and spent five years as the Deputy Chair of the Te Atiawa Fisheries Trust. Kim possesses a wide understanding of fisheries matters and the great need for Iwi collaboration to uphold Māori fisheries rights. She was supported by the Iwi of Te Tai Hauārau to be a part of the 2016 Iwi working group to review Te Ohu Kaimoana funding models.
Kim has a strong vision of healthy, vibrant Māori fisheries. She believes in achieving a balance between maintaining the cleanliness of the ecosystem, providing healthy customary kai for whānau and exploring innovative technologies to deliver Māori economic prosperity. Kim is inspired by the legacy of proud Te Atiawa women who worked selflessly to protect their mataitai and who educated their children to achieve the highest standards in their chosen endeavours. Kim is committed to performing her best to benefit ngā iwi katoa.
