Te Ohu Kaimoana congratulates Doug Paulin (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa) on his appointment as Sealord’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – the first Māori CEO to lead the 50% Iwi owned company.

Doug will be working alongside current CEO Steve Yung over the next 12 months until he officially takes over as CEO in October 2020. Doug isn’t new to leadership, he was previously CEO at Hubbards Food Ltd.

Doug has built strong connections with Iwi fisheries during his time at Sealord. Dion Tuuta, Te Mātārae (CEO) of Te Ohu Kaimoana, says “Sealord is in good hands. We’ve enjoyed working with Doug over the last eight years, and we’re looking forward to building on that in his new role as CEO.”

Doug spoke to our Māori Fisheries Conference earlier this year about the new Sealord vessel, the Tokatu.

A statement released by Sealord reiterated the importance of the appointment of a new CEO and that the Board are determined to continue the strong operational and financial results delivered by Sealord in recent years. In the transition the company will continue to deliver business as usual, meeting commitments to customers, shareholders and employees.

We would also like to acknowledge the awesome mahi that Steve Yung has achieved, Ngā Tapuwae o Māui deepwater deal between Sealord and 37 iwi groups in particular. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe Steve.
