Prior to joining Te Ohu Kaimoana, Brianna worked at the Waitangi Tribunal as the Legal Advisor/Deputy Registrar. She has a wide range of expertise in both law and policy, specialising in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori land law, and public law.
Brianna holds a conjoint degree in Laws and Arts (majoring in History) from the University of Auckland, and a Certificate in Indigenous People’s Rights and Policy from the Centre of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University in New York City. While studying, Brianna served as Tumuaki Wāhine of Te Rākau Ture (the Māori Law Students Association) and is an active member of Te Hunga Roia Māori o Aotearoa.
Brianna considers herself lucky enough to have two hometowns – Mahia Peninsula on the east coast and the Bay of Islands in the far north.
