Te Ohu Kaimoana is pleased to announce the appointments of Jason Witehira and Greg Summerton as new Directors of Moana New Zealand, and the reappointment of Mr Tony Hannon.
Mr Witehira is the current Chair of Ngāpuhi Assets Holding Ltd and has a successful background in leadership and governance roles in both fisheries and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). During Mr Witehira’s time as an independent director and as Chair of Ngāpuhi, he has developed a thorough understanding of the quota management system and its application to Iwi. Mr Witehira will take up his position from 1 December 2018.
Mr Summerton is currently a director for Ngāi Tahu Seafood Limited and Okains Bay Seafood Group and acts in a governance capacity across seafood, farming and eco-tourism sectors. Mr Summerton has 35 years’ worth of experience as a skipper of a deepsea vessel and possesses great knowledge of the Quota Management System and the seafood industry. Mr Summerton will take up his position on 1 May 2019.
Mr Witehira and Mr Summerton were appointed following an extensive recruitment process which attracted a large number of extremely high-quality candidates. They will succeed Craig Ellison who resigned in July 2018, and Rachel Taulelei who did not seek reappointment.
Te Ohu Kaimoana sincerely thanks Craig and Rachel for their exceptional leadership and contributions around the Moana New Zealand Board table over the years. We now look forward to the vision and experience that Jason and Greg will bring during their tenure.
