Te Maire is a Tai Pari (Policy Analyst) at Te Ohu Kaimoana. She is passionate about supporting whānau, hapū aspirations within the moana space. She joined Te Ohu Kaimoana in February 2022 and works mainly in customary fishing and fisheries policy.
Prior to joining Te Ohu Kaimoana, Te Maire worked at Manatū Ahu Matua as a graduate analyst in Biosecurity and Fisheries New Zealand. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Science, double majoring in Geography and Te Reo Māori from the University of Waikato.
Working at Te Ohu Kaimoana is a perfect fit for Te Maire as she has a natural affinity to Tangaroa me ngā uri a Hinemoana. In her spare time, you will often find Te Maire planning return trips home to Te Tai Tokerau, gathering maitai with finesse, or utilising her open water certificate to say “kia ora” to the odd shark.
